Monday's terrible bombings at the Boston Marathon brought out some of the best in American culture. Civilians literally rushed into the chaos and danger to help save others. First responders, medical personnel, and law enforcement have been working around the clock to save lives and carry out a methodical investigation.
And all across the country, regardless of politics, people have been horrified by the senseless violence, the killing and maiming of innocent children and adults, and the targeting of such a wholesome and unifying event as the world's oldest marathon.
Well, not everyone.
Some people have taken this opportunity to further reveal what truly despicable, sub-human scum they are.
-------------------
1) Alex Jones
Alex Jones is a notorious peddler of conspiracy theories. Not just 9/11 garbage, but everything under the sun, from the Illuminati to claims that chemicals are turning animals gay and Seal Team Six are being systematically disappeared.
But now Jones has outdone himself by sending out perhaps the most offensive tweet ever, a mere 30 minutes after the Boston attacks, before any details about the event were available.
Yet again launching into an idiotic and paranoid conspiracy theory that basically re-victimizes the victims, their families, and all people repulsed by this attack. Not content to leave it at that, he continued
Jones then sent one of his devotees into a news conference with Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick to ask out loud whether the bombings were an inside job. There are no words.
2) Cynthia McKinney
The former Congresswoman and Green Party presidential candidate has already made a name for herself with ridiculous actions like blaming her primary defeat on Jews, praising the Gadhaffi regime as a great example of an "African democracy", and punching a security guard trying to do his job.
In the wake of the Boston attacks, McKinney took it upon herself to not only to invent a ridiculous conspiracy theory, but to charge not only the US Government but also the Boston Police with staging the attack
These would be the same Boston police that rushed into the chaos and danger to save people.
3) Richard Silverstein
Richard Silverstein is a notorious anti-Israel propagandist who has been caught in lies so many times that even other anti-Israel haters don't take him seriously. The way that he clunkily attempts to cloak his irrational and hateful rantings in the language of Jewish liberalism is very reminiscent of David Harris Gershon.
In any case, in the wake of the Boston attacks Silverstein outdid even his previous insanity by taking it upon himself to preemptively justify the attacks.
That's right, before anyone knows who did it, and while rescue workers were still picking severed limbs off the street, Silverstein is already excusing Islamists for doing it. And look at his shameless defilement of the Jewish concept of Tikun Olam ("Heal the world") which would basically be the opposite of justifying a senseless slaughter of civilians at a sporting event.
Let's even follow his logic a bit here. Even if we except that the American military is killing Muslims with "impunity" (which of course we are not, since, say what you will about it, the drone program is targeted at certain individuals rather than random), but even if we accept that, so what. By Silverstein's logic, any reaction to violence, no matter how random and senseless that reaction is, is justified. I mean since some Muslims killed Americans with "impunity" on 9/11 and on many occasions before that, I guess that means the Iraq and Afghanistan wars were fully justified, right Dickey?
Of course not. Silverstein only believes that Muslim lives are valuable. The same logic certainly does not apply to the lives of Americans in his head.
4) Jennifer Rubin
The conservative commentator must be missing the part of her brain that deals with empathy, because right after the bombings she tweeted this
Apparently this is a reference to the Kermit Gosnell controversy, where some conservatives claim that the trial of an abortion provider in Philadelphia is not getting enough national coverage. Umm, ok. If Rubin can't figure out the difference in newsworthyness between an ongoing murder trial and a sudden terrorist attack at a major worldwide sporting event, then the bar for being a conservative columnist is even lower than I thought.
------------------
So there you have it. Four people who have used this tragedy to show yet again how utterly awful individuals they are. It is very possible that in the coming days more people will commit acts that deserve to be added to this douchebag hall of fame, in which case they will be added.
(dis)honorable mention to the Gazans who tweeted delight at the attacks. but of course they're under "occupation" so can't be held to the same standards as everyone else, right?
ReplyDeleteIt's occupation(tm).
DeleteWell said fiz... all oare douchebags along with those a-holes in Jordan and Egypt that said basically echoed Silverstein.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea on who did this but, I do hope they are caught soon and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Give it a couple days. Westboro Baptist Church has already announced they're going to picket the funerals. And I'm sure it's just a matter of time before some Talibangelical declare the bombings to be Divine retribution for Teh Gayz, keeping prayer out of public schools, abortion, and having a socialist/communist/Kenyan usurper/Muslim president.
ReplyDeleteOh right.. .I forgot about those peanut heads.... They definitely get "Douchebag" awards as well.
DeleteUgh, I forgot that Westboro said that. I hope that Massachusetts passes a law like some other states did that makes it illegal to disrupt a funeral.
