Sign The Petition to Desmond Tutu Against Holocaust Revisionism

Desmond Tutu was a famous anti-apartheid and is a Nobel Peace Prize laureate.  Whatever one thinks of his subsequent positions in regard to the Israeli-Arab conflict, he is still a figure that commands respect throughout the world.

That is why it is extremely important that Archbishop Tutu stand up to Holocaust denial and Holocaust revisionism within movements he allies with.

Recently, the group Free Gaza tweeted their endorsement of a virulently antisemitic video that accuses Jews themselves of being responsible for the genocide perpetrated by Nazi Germany.  This is absolutely revolting Holocaust revisionism that would be at home ideologically among neo-Nazis, and has no place among acceptable discourse.

Unfortunately, Free Gaza has in the past been endorsed by Tutu.

Please join me in signing a change.org petition calling on Desmond Tutu to take a stand against Holocaust denial and genocide itself, and remove his endorsement of this group.

You know, it isn't so much that the Free Gaza people are ignorant. That's abundantly clear, and not all that surprising. What's really important is that they desperately seek out this kind of appallingly ignorant crap, because it reinforces the hatred and bigotry that is already in them. They hate Jews, and so they will embrace any kind of nonsense that reinforces their hatred, even something so absurd as a claim that the Jews put themselves in concentration camps. Next thing you know, they will claim that Hitler himself was Jewish!

And it's really sad that Desmond Tutu has signed on to this crap. Really sad. So what if he's done good things in his life up til now. All that is for nothing, because in his dotage, he has embraced bigotry. Who are you today, Desmond? A respected cleric? No, you're a bigot. You are dead to me. The only words you could say that could possibly have any meaning are "I'm so sorry, I must be suffering from dementia." And even that wouldn't be enough.

    1. I agree it is repulsive but I want to give Tutu the chance to distance himself from this. I believe in the possibility of redemption. Do I think it is likely? No. Possible? Yes.

    2. I agree with fizziks more than Paul but I think Paul has points... I am surprised to see that Tutu would go along with something like this given his friendship with some Israelis (like Uri Avnery).. This really is disgusting and sad.
