As IF there still was any doubt......

In the conflict in the Middle East, much has been made of the use of anti-Semitic meme's to attack Israel and it's supporters under the guise of being merely anti-Zionist and not bigoted. HOWEVER, most people reject that (using obvious evidence) and counter that many of meme's touted by the anti-Zionist movement ARE indeed anti-Semitic. The founder of the Free Gaza Movement, Greta Berlin, has now exposed this and made it abundantly clear with her embrace of some of the worst, and most offensive, anti-Semitic conspiracy theory.

Several days back, the Free Gaza Movement tweeted a video that claimed Zionists were allied with the National Socialists (better known as Nazis) and that it was that alliance that was the origin of the term Nazi. The speaker also claimed that Zionists ran the concentration camps and were responsible for the Holocaust. That tweet was deleted. However, rather than apologize for spreading this anti-Semitic conspiracy theory, Berlin instead only apologized for tweeting it from her organization's twitter account.

What Berlin fully embraced, however, was the conspiracy theory. She made clear that she intended to post it to her private Facebook account. Yes, she actually admitted that. She was only sorry because she made her post public for the world to see her anti-Semitism on full display.
“I posted it from Facebook, not realizing that my private account was connected to the FG account. I apologise,” Berlin tweeted.
Think about that for a second. She's not sorry she engaged in anti-Semitism. She's not sorry she has blamed Jews for the Holocaust. She's only sorry that she's let the world see. She's only sorry that she has brought further discredit upon the anti-Semites that cloak their anti-Semitism in "opposition" to Israel and "opposition" to Zionism.

Understand that this accusation - aside from being complete fiction is amazingly painful and vicious. Ranking up there with the nonsense found in the Protocols of the Elders of Zion. The question I have is, will those of good conscience, who think they are trying to do something right, denounce this person and/or openly acknowledge the hatred and anti-Semitism within their movement?

In any case, for many of us, the dots were already connected. Hopefully this will connect the dots for a few more.

  1. Can't say this is really a surprise. We've always known that these people are anti-Semites. I'm just glad they're finally revealing their stripes for all to finally see.

  2. Avi Mayer (who first broke this story at http://storify.com/avimayer/the-free-gaza-movement-shows-its-anti-semitic-side) pointed out a number of official endorsers of the Free Gaza Movement, and pointedly asked when THEY will condemn this blatant anti-Semitism: people like Desmond Tutu, Code Pink, the Rachel Corrie Foundation, and of course our "friends" at Jewish Voice for Peace who claim to stand forthrightly against anti-Semitism. Though JVP could only muster a condemnation of Gilad Atzmon once Ali Abunimah gave them permission to do so.

yet so far, from all of the above, .

Y'know, it would be really good if the condemnation of this hateful garbage didn't come exclusively from those on the pro-I side. We (the PZ community) rightly condemn -- and fiercely so -- the hateful and ugly rhetoric that is spewed from the right-wing Israel supporters. We do so with the realization that it is the right thing to do, but also with the clear understanding that, ultimately, it is in no way detrimental to our cause(s). It's too bad that virtually no one on the other side seems to realize the grave disservice they do to their cause by failing to fiercely condemn the people who use their issue as a vehicle for spewing hateful antisemitic garbage.

    1. And now the I have either been threatened with violence or libeled by the lunatic fringe: http://israel-thrives.blogspot.com/2012/10/is-barack-obama-ripping-country-apart.html

See for yourself. Mike Lumish asked if I was threatening him with violence. YET, when I answered him stating explicitly that I would never use violence unless it was self-defense. He stated... and I quote:

      Mike L. October 5, 2012 4:08 PM

      Notice:

The individual who goes under the moniker “Volleyboy1” has threatened the owner of this blog with violence.

For me to have threaten the use of violence it would have to be in self defense. SO therefore, can I assume that Mike has threatened me? If has not then he has libeled me as stating that I threatened someone is defamation.

Now it is either libel or physical threats. Either way - just another typical day in Right Wing Crazy land.

Don't engage with the lunatic fringe . . . nothing good can possibly come from it. Engaging with them just feeds their lunacy. And, as you are now experiencing, one really can't be fully confident of their ability to control themselves.

    3. Yep... he and the fringe have lost the thread. That site is now dedicated to me and why the angry Chihuahua are going to alternatately going kick my ass OR simply whine about it.

I am apparently so evil that Pamela Geller needs bodyguards because of little ole' me. (Never mind that I have never met, or spoken to Geller - nor do I want too).

But yeah... Team Loon does seem to have one or two people that can't control themselves. Sad really, but as they say... Ma La'asot.

Look, If I were part of the group that had to explain why "I wanted to Kill Big Bird", I would be ashamed as well.
